Search: Poetic Streams of Subconsciousness

The precedent of ‘Search’ is the literary movement known as stream of consciousness described by the Oxford language dictionary as “a character’s thoughts, feelings, and reactions … depicted in a continuous flow uninterrupted by objective description or conventional dialogue.”

‘Search’ takes this concept and applies it to the subconscious mind in dreams. The project captures dream thoughts and feelings in haiku, stores them in a database, and randomly reorders the 17 syllables of each haiku based on search terms.

The resulting ‘Poetic Streams of Subconsciousness’ are composed to provide a guided tour through dream haiku randomized through a computer database and formed into poems by the intuition of an artist.
