A Thought (Nona’s Lessons)

Once upon a space, some time in time, there was a family. In this case, a Grandmother was watching over her grandchildren. They were all snugged in tight in Nona’s cottage (for that was what the Grandmother would have the children call her). One night, when the children were staying over, Nona took the poker, stirred the fire and placed the kettle on an arm she swung over it. The children watched raptly. Story time with Nona was the best.

When Nona began, her voice was soft and low, leading the children into trance. As their bodies relaxed, she engaged their minds. “It’s a strange tale I’ll be sharing this evening, my loves. Listen with open minds and keep your hearts open so that you can receive the lessons. Once upon a time, in a place not too far from here, there were a people who could not seem to live in peace….

So begins the tale. So begins the lesson.
