Until Matty Harbor grew up and ventured into the real world, she thought her family lived like most people do, in the outskirts of Santa Fe New Mexico. She thought most of the young people she knew had fathers that were alcoholics. And most siblings refused to go to school and only occasionally dropped by to sell pot out of the shed in the backyard. Matty did know that her mom was stranger than other moms because she wouldn’t leave the house to even step outside. For years. Matty herself stopped going to school to work a full time job at a gas station. For Matty, everything was normal like that until the day that her life changed forever. She committed a crime that was so shocking, and it took only one second for Matty to become someone so different from the kind, loving person she was before. And no one would know about it. She would carry this alone. How does a person walk through their life knowing they did this horrific thing? Can she ever have a normal life knowing this secret? She tried. I guess all a person can do in that situation is wake up and be someone different. Praying, her secret would not be found out.
